Meet Eli the Elf!

This year we had a special delivery from Santa.  We have heard of the Elf on the Shelf before, but we’ve never had one sent from Santa before!  I’m not quite sure who is going to have more fun with Eli though, me or the kids!  Hopefully Eli will teach our kids the value of love, grace and forgiveness. Welcome to the family Eli!

ImageI made our letter from Santa introducing Eli by using this free downloadable santa letterhead which I edited to make the writing red to give it a bit more colour.  I used this letter as my basis, with some minor alterations to suit my handful of hearts.  I just loved the way her letter incorporated Jesus into the elf on the shelf because we all need grace!  Once I printed it, I mounted it on some burgundy card stock and I sealed it with a wax seal which looked fantastic!

Eli’s first morning with us, the hearts found him on the kitchen bench.  He had gotten everyone’s breakfast ready and was sitting at a dolls table ready to start his breakfast.  The kids thought it was great!  Baby heart even tried to feed Eli his breakfast!

ImageThere was so much excitement over what Eli would get up to last night that there was still movement in the house when we were heading off to bed last night.  I was woken by hysterical laughing this morning coming from the kitchen.  When I went down to investigate the kids had found Eli having a nap in the cutlery drawer!

ImageI wonder what mischief he will get up to tonight?!

About Handful of Hearts

I'm a stay at home mum with six kids. We have girl, boy, girl triplets, who are 11 years old, a larger than life 8 year old girl and 2 year old girl. I am married to my best friend who had a heart transplant 11 years ago. I like my life to be ordered and organised, I follow routines, but slowly I'm learning to let go, to loosen the reins and enjoy life! I love my family, I love my friends, I love my life!!

  1. Oh this made me cry – coming from a cold ‘Victorian’ family my heart still hurts and yearns for ‘the wonder of Christmas’ and I am so thankful the the God your ‘hearts’ know is a God of love & fun and imaginations, not a distant Being one needs to fear. Thank you for blessing this 67 year old ‘kid’. 💕

  2. I hope you can relish in the joy of Christmas seen through my “hearts” eyes Suz. We love you so much. I think ‘Santa’ should deliver an Elf to your place because I said to my husband heart that even when the kids leave home we are going to take turns each night to make sure Eli gets up to some kind of mischief! Christmas is such a joyful time of year!

  3. Bless you beautiful – I have through your hearts childhoods realised what childhood was meant to be, and for that I owe you so much. It’s been painful but has also allowed me to release a lot of the hurt and rejection of my past. May you truly always have the mischievous Eli in your lives.
